ADVANCED TEAMS
Once they complete their introductory KDO Program, whether In-School or Open Summer Program, children who demonstrate enthusiams, extraordinary commitment, and readiness to continue with KDO, are invited to join KDO’s Advanced Teams. Through full scholarships, dancers participate in ongoing, weekly advanced classes.
Students in the Advanced Teams range from 4th – 8th Grade.
Approximately 100 students participate yearly.
SWAT
4th - 5th Graders
The first bridge beyond KDO introductory programs, Students with Winning Attitudes (SWAT), brings together children from across Indianapolis together, once a week, to deepen their journey and continued experience with KDO. Scholarships are awarded based on four key criteria: commitment, willingness to try, focus and dedication, and teamwork and consistency.
X-TEAM
6th - 8th Graders
The Extension Team (X-Team) is the next level of the KDO experience for dancers ready to deepen their commitment and work with KDO. After at least two years on SWAT, dancers who demonstrate exceptional drive, discipline, and consistency may be invited to to this level. Rehearsing 2–3 times per week offers a more rigorous, intensive opportunity to grow within the KDO community and further their training.
Professionally Produced
EVENT OF THE YEAR
A professionally produced performance and culmination of the year-long learning at KDO. There are three performances featuring a full live band, professional lighting, costumes, and more. Beyond the impact on children and their families, the Event of the Year is KDO’s biggest fundraiser of the year — it draws a wide audience, including civic leaders, philanthropists, foundation leaders, families, and others.
