Kids Dance Outreach provides high-quality dance classes for free for students in several IPS schools. The opportunity to build self-esteem and teamwork is vital for these elementary students.

KDO serves more than 2,000 students each year and offers a program for children with developmental disabilities. The majority of the students participating are minorities and face many challenges at home.

COVID-19 closed school buildings and moved classes online — but KDO Founding Director Michael Johnson and his wife Monica Munoz have found a way to bring dance back to these kids, virtually.

WFYI’s Jill Ditmire spoke via ZOOM with Johnson and Munoz about the adjustments being made to keep those students dancing.
